Amazing Sunset

I love the scenery in this game.  I was on my way to Velia to pick up a bunch of money from the marketplace but had to stop and take this picture.

One more photo from earlier today...

Meet Tauriellen my Ranger in Black Desert

I couldn't resist taking a pic of my ranger, Tauriellen, after she just finished fishing in Black Desert just before the new patch is released....

HOW TO: Make Honey Wine from Scratch

The following is going to outline step by step what it takes to make Honey Wine.  Consuming Honey Wine provides you with a buff of All Damage Reduction +2 for 60 minutes.  However, if you're like me and have a love of silver, you can sell each one of these on the marketplace for some decent coin.

First, you'll need to buy or gather potato in order to make flour.  Get around 100 of them so you have enough for the entire process.  Note that corn or wheat can be used for making flour if you have more of a supply of those instead.  You'll also need to buy or gather some type of fruit.  I personally like to use grapes but feel free to use another fruit of your choosing.  You also need to get Cooking Honey which you can get off the marketplace or if you have the contribution points you can send a worker to Alejandro Farm outside of Heidel to farm them for you.

Now you'll need to stop by to see one of the vendors that sells cooking supplies.  For this, I visited the Chef at the Inn in Velia because he has such a charming personality.  Buy Leavening Agent, Mineral Water, Sugar, and a Cooking Utensil for your residence if you do not already have one.  The recipes I have outlined below will give you an idea of how much you'll need based on the quantity you plan to make.

After you have your supplies, press "L" to bring up the "Production Activity" menu.  Select the "Grinding" icon, then select the Potato from your inventory and click on "Start".
Now select the "Shaking" icon from the "Production Activity" menu and combine Flour and Mineral Water.  Stop it about half way through to leave enough Flour to make the "Essence of Liquor" with your Cooking Utensil.

Now you are ready to starting cooking...go to your Cooking Utensil in your residence.  Press "R" to bring up the "Cook" menu.  Now select the exact quantities listed below for each recipe to make the first of each one.  That gets added to your Knowledge List and from that point forward can be referenced by each of your characters.  Just one note, if you want to do Continuous Production make sure you only use enough ingredients for making the initial item.  Adding all the ingredients at once will end with unpleasant results.

*** Essence of Liquor ***
Flour x1, Leavening Agent x1, Grapes x1

*** Honey Wine ***
Cooking Honey X3, Sugar X2, Mineral Water X6, Essense of Liquor X2

Now you can reap the rewards of your hard work.  Enjoy!

Farming Guide

Here is a guide on how Farming works in Black Desert Online:

1. Placement of Farm:

First you will need a fence to put down.  You can get a free one from a quest giver outside of Heidl.

You can also find higher quality fences from different NPCs at selected farms and cities.

Next you need to place it down on a spot and I would recommend looking for other farm spots where other players have placed theirs.

2. Planting Seeds:

After that you go into farming placement mode by pressing "R" to place your seeds down.

Some seeds can be found on the marketplace (such as carrot or wheat seeds) or are created through harvesting your plants and can even be gathered from herbs randomly.

You can also get some very special items from seeds bought at seed vendors such as:

Black seed grows pickled onion containers
Shiny seeds yield tulip sconces (lanterns for a wall in your home)
Gigantic seed creates sunflower vases
Glossy seed yield red rose vases
Dried-up seeds provide you with dried roses
Small white seed yield a strawberry basket
Shelled seed produces a yellow tulip pot
Contorted seed grows oddly shaped pumpkins
Bumpy seed produces an olive tree pot

3. Caring for Farm/Garden:

A better harvest can be guaranteed if you water the farm regularly as well as fertilize it.  Also if you notice your farm icon is red on the map it means one of your plants needs special care such as pruning or killing bugs infesting the plant (press R to do either of these tasks).

You can make inorganic fertilizer simply by drying grain (ie.wheat) when it isn't raining of course =p

Shaking and mixing 3 inorganic fertilizers with 2 leavening agents (bought from cooks/innkeepers) yields you the fertilizer byproduct.

Shaking and mixing 2 distilled waters (heating bottles of river water instead of thinning) with 1 fertilizer byproduct gives organic fertilizer.

You can water the farm using River Water or even better, Purified Water.  River water is collected using bottles that can be purchased from a material vendor, right click the empty bottle in your inventory when at a riverbank to fill it.  To make purified water, simply take the river water you made and use the "Thinning" option in your "Produce" tab in the lower area of your inventory.

4. Worker Management:

You can set a worker to tend to the garden, then all you would have to do is water, fertilize and harvest.  Click on the garden link at the top left of your screen (right beside the worker management icon).  Your worker will then come over and tend to the garden until you choose to stop this task.

5. Harvesting:

You harvest your plant by pressing "R" once the plant has reached between 100% to 120%.  I would recommend harvesting before it reaches the 120% since it gives you less of a yield due to it being designated as an old crop now.

Horse Breeding and Taming

Here is where we will post tips on horse breeding and taming from our own experiences...

In the North American version of the game there are 7 tiers of horses.  You can breed horses at all levels, but keep in mind the higher the level of your horse the more likely you will have a better result.

Beginner's Guides:

For an in-depth guide I would recommend checking out Dulfy's site on Horse Breeding and Taming - definitely a useful resource for any BDO Horse enthusiast :)

On the BDO community forum, I found an excellent post on horse breeding, you can find it here - definitely recommend it. The person went into detail compiling tips on the many aspects of horse breeding.

BDO has recently added Wild Tier 4 and 5 horses that you can tame as of March 8,2017 - wonderful news since the horse market was truly lacking in its selection of horses!

In the NA version, we are all now able to level our horses much more easily with Auto-looping, so you can breed your dream horse... :)

Horse Calculators:

An excellent horse calculator can be found here - gives details on what levels give you the best chance at higher tiers and what colors can occur in your foals.

Another useful website about horse breeding is http://www.blackd.de/horse/ - which gives you a cool calculator to figure out what combinations of horse tiers and levels with give you a good chance at getting the horse you wanted.

Horse Tier and Color Chart:

A wonderful guide on our quest to produce a purebred Tier 7 horse, which calls for 7 points in either red, white or black to produce (with only a 12% chance of occurring even with having a total of 7 colors from parents... i.e. Stallion has 3 points in black and Mare has 4 points in black, giving a chance at a Purebred Black Tier 7 horse)  Use the color guide below to help plan your own Tier 7 horse breeding: Image of all the horse tiers and colors available!

Here is another useful set of horse tier images for posting on the forums etc

Breeding Results:

Here are the latest breeding results!

Also you could check out the BDO Forums for a thread called Horse Breeding Findings for a wonderful discussion on the Black Desert horses... we definitely learned a lot from them about horse breeding.

Cream and Butter Recipe

Here are two quick and simple recipes for goods you could use or sell on the market:

Cream:

1 Milk (directly milking cows or market)
1 sugar (from cook)

From inventory, select "Produce" and choose the "Shaking" option, add the milk and sugar in and press start to have your character make cream.  Keep in mind this will use up your energy

Butter:

Take the cream you made in the above recipe and mix it with salt purchased from the cook in any inn to make Butter.  Just choose the Shaking option as above and add in cream and salt to produce the butter directly.  This also takes your character's energy to produce.

1 sugar (bought from cook)
2 leavening agents (from cook too)
6 mineral water (from cook)
5 potatoes (from farming or can buy on market)

Place in the cooking utensil in your home and voila, beer

You can then recover the stamina of your workers or just sell on the market
